Our group works on engineering plant cells as platform to produce recombinant therapeutic proteins. The group is interested in a wide range of innovative activities including but not limited to, gene and construct design for therapeutic molecules, recombinant protein expression and characterization, downstream process engineering and techno-economic analysis for human/animal heath, food security and defense.| Chemical Engineering | UC Davis Engineering
Using the tools of genetic engineering, recombinant proteins can be produced using a variety of expression systems and hosts, including microbial, mammalian, insect, plant or algal cells grown in bioreactors as well as transgenic animals and plants. The McDonald-Nandi Lab is developing novel expression systems (i.e.| Chemical Engineering | UC Davis Engineering
