The Stave Church, the landmark of Hahnenklee, was modelled on Norwegian stave churches and was constructed – completely from Harz wood – in 1907/1908 by Professor Karl Mohrmann. It is unique in its construction form and is famous far beyond the borders of Germany. In addition to its imposing appearance, other fascinating aspects are the marvellous interior and the carillon (a mechanical and electronic glockenspiel) spanning more than four octaves.
