A pioneer in the development of the Internet in Brazil, Liane Tarouco educated a generation of engineers and network specialists in that country, South America, Europe, and Africa. In addition to her academic and training roles, she authored the first book on computer networks to be published in Brazil. Tarouco also made significant contributions to the design and implementation of academic and metropolitan networks in Brazil, as well as Brazil's first Internet backbone.| Internet Hall of Fame
