This endowment was established in honor of Professor Charlotte Preston Mangum, an emeritus professor of biology who was well-known nationally and internationally as a distinguished scientist, a scholar, a leader in the scientific community, and a mentor to many students. She was well-known at William & Mary as one who taught undergraduate and graduate students how to do research, how to write, and how to enjoy thinking like a scientist.
