On day 8 Advent of Code 2021 adventure, part 1 lulled me into a false sense of security. It took longer to read the instructions than implementing the code. But then part 2 was back with a vengeance. Admittedly it would have been so much easier if I slowed down a bit and actually counted carefully. As it happened it was a good reminder that “more haste, less speed” applies to programming very much.| beny23.github.io
On day 17 of Advent of Code 2021, I did something that I should have really done from the start: Write tests first. My excuse so far has been that I wasn’t familiar with Haskell yet and other such lame excuses. As a software engineer, I should know better. TDD doesn’t slow me down, it makes things faster. The last straw - if you like - was when I was writing up my exploits from Day 16 and I thought there really is no excuse for not testing these parser combinators individually.| beny23.github.io
