On April 9, the Society of Professional Journalists Region 6 announced its winners of the 2023 Mark of Excellence Awards and 12 awards were given to J-School students. This award recognizes excellence in collegiate journalism across several categories including print, art/graphics/multimedia, radio and television broadcast. On February 24, the winners of the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association (WBA) 2023 Student Awards for Excellence were announced and three awards were given to J-School students for their broadcasting work and WSUM received seven awards.
