In this image, you're looking at a 3/4" finished door jamb that needs a door. The jamb is 3.5" deep, as the studs behind it are only 2.5" studs, and the jamb is centered on the studs, leaving 1/2" jamb overlapping the studs. The shadow reveal is provided by a 1/2" x 1/2" trim which butts up and overlaps the drywall. There will be no casing.
