Adirondacks and Catskills to See the Most Significant Color Changes this Weekend This is the first 2025 I LOVE NY Fall Foliage Report for New York State. A Paddle for Wilderness is taking place on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Forked Lake in the central Adirondacks in Long Lake at 10 a.m. The Paddle for Wilderness is a floating protest calling for the protection of the 36,000-acre Whitney Park that is up for sale and threatened with development. The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the off ramp and adjoining rest area ramp at Exit 32 on Interstate 87 northbound in the Town of Lewis, Essex County, will be closed beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, through approximately 2 p.m. on Friday, August 29, to facilitate bridge deck repair. Popular Trail in Tupper Lake Reopened for Public Use The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced the reopening of the popular Goodman Mountain trail in the Horseshoe Lake Wild Forest in the town of Tupper Lake.
