I didn’t realise quite what a link they had until I read “Neon Roses” – read on below for that gem! As Nonfiction November starts on Monday (eee!), I have prepared my potential list of short nonfiction to read next month to cover Nonfiction November AND Novellas in November (yes, I know a work of short nonfiction is not precisely a novella; yes, the organisers of NovNov allow nonfiction and I do this every year). We’re coming up to Nonfiction November and my particular Week, Pairings (link to last year’s post), and I set an intention at the start of this month to get some books read to add to my fiction/nonfiction pairings for Nonfiction November 2025. “Carry On, Jeeves” was first published, not only in 1925, but in October 1925, by Herbert Jenkins. It includes ten short stories, the first of which being the Jeeves & Wooster origin story, when the “gentleman’s personal gentleman” first glided in to Bertie Wooster’s life. As such, it was the perfect book to download and […]| Adventures in reading, running and working from home

We’re just over three quarters of the way through 2025 so it’s time for me to review my ongoing progress with this year’s reading challenges. However, I like the idea of goals because they … Continue reading "2025 Reading Challenges – Last quarter update"| Wicked Witch's Blog

We are very rapidly approaching the end of the year and I’m…not as far on the reading challenges as I would like, at this stage. Some I’m still hopeful about, but I definitely think for next year I’m going to reduce the amount I’m doing, maybe just by one, though I’m still looking at aContinue reading "2025 Reading Challenges Update #9"| Unwrapping Words

It’s here! The best time of the year! Time to break out your Spooky Stacks, #WickedGoodReads, and start #ImbibingPeril! I’ll also be reading for Murder, Monsters, and Mayhem and FrightFall events. My Fall TBR is sooooo long, but here are a few books that I’m prioritizing. I feel like I have a good mix of horror tropes here. Notice that I’ve got two T. Hello readers! If you had to pick just six books to put at the top of your summer reading list, what would you pick? I’d love to make a giant, long list of summer reading books but I’m cutting it down to just six to be realistic. I also tried to choose six books from a variety of genres to mix things up. We’ve had the most gorgeous, perfectly warm weather the past couple of days. I’ve been able to read sitting outside on my bench and it’s brightened my mood significantly. Now, I’m not fool enough to think the cold is completely gone. Around here the weather likes to play mind games with us and we won’t get consistently nice weather until the end of May.
