Thank you to the hardworking volunteers who pulled invasive plants at the Earth Day Clean event. This is the 19th cleanup that April Schmitt organized! Some 30 bags of garlic mustard were collected and numerous rugosa bushes were cut and treated with herbicide paint. The rapid rise of migrant labor in Texas in the 1940s brought large numbers of laborers to Waco. To accommodate this new situation, the city of Waco acquired funds to build the Waco Farm Labor Camp, a center where workers could stay and receive aid while following the crops.
