The Park Hyatt London River Thames has only been open for 10 months. It still has that new hotel feel. It's located in the Nine Elms district on the south side of the Thames, and many find it to be an odd location other than proximity to the U.S. Embassy.| View from the Wing
I’ve already told you about my big, fancy jet flights on Alaska, but if you need a runway, you aren’t doing real flying. Once we arrived in Seattle, we went to lunch at a brewery on Lake Union, and then we headed over to Kenmore Air’s terminal on the lake for a seaplane ride to...| Cranky Flier

A walk down Si-e Tir street will break your religious stereotypes about what we call the Islamic Republic of Iran these days: a synagogue, a mosque, 2 Christian churches and a Zoroastrian fire temple sit together on this cobblestone street. Also, the National Museum of Iran and the Museum of Glassware and Ceramics are located […] Source| Caravanistan
Situated at the historical heart of Tehran, the area formerly known as Mashq Square is a Tehran must-see. You can easily spend a day visiting its different museums. That’s not enough for us, though. We like to see Mashq Square as just one piece of a bigger picture: Imam Khomeini Street. Named after the turbaned […] Source| Caravanistan
Laleh-Zar, “the tulip fields“, was once known as the Champs-Elysées of Tehran. It was constructed in the 1880s on the order of Nasser al-Din Shah Qajar, who was dazzled by European architecture during his first trip to Europe in 1873. The first modern boulevard in Tehran was a luxury shopping street, and later became home […] Source| Caravanistan

As I mentioned in my trip report last week, I flew into SFO on a recent trip to the Bay Area but back out of Oakland. This wasn’t by design, but since I knew they were both pretty easy options from the city, I felt comfortable choosing the best flight times/prices out of either airport. Once we settled on going into one and out of the other, I knew it would be worth a comparison post. Let’s get it on.| Cranky Flier
My wife and I had to do a quick trip up to San Francisco for a Saturday night event. Fares were high, and schedule options were fewer than I’d expected. In the end, the best flights involved flying into San Francisco and out of Oakland. This gave me a great opportunity to compare the commute, but I’ll do that on Monday. For now, let’s talk about the somewhat unimpressive flight experiences themselves.| Cranky Flier

There are certain events that really make you step back and realize just how quickly time passes. My recent 20th grad school reunion fits into that bucket. Most of us look older, but it’s incredible how we all fall right back into it as if no time has passed at all. I don’t go to my high school or undergrad reunions, but I have never missed a Stanford one, and I wasn’t about to break that streak now.| Cranky Flier
Have you ever desired to document your adventures for future reflection, but were unable to accomplish the task? I know that feeling too well.
