You can see SVG icon sprites in use across the high-performance web. Lonely Planet1, GitHub, & CodePen all use an SVG icon sprite, and there are plentyofadvocates for SVG icons across the development community. These examples come from the cutting-edge of front-end development, but SVG icons are not "hard" or "complicated". In fact, using an SVG sprite is one of the easiest ways to maintain an icon system.
