Brie spent her childhood studying magazines from cover to cover (including during math class, much to her teacher's dismay), which opened her eyes to the world of lifestyle journalism. As an adult, she moved to Japan to become an English teacher, where she explored the neighborhoods of Tokyo between grammar lessons.
