A year and a half ago I switched jobs. Same hospital; different department. I finally went into medical coding (if you’re not familiar, I do not mean “coding” as in programming–this is dealing with the diagnostic and procedure codes for medical visits). I already had the certification and training, but it’s tough to get the job if you haven’t worked in healthcare before. Since I already had a job at the hospital it was much easier to make the shift that way.
