Garlic needs a lot of sunlight to thrive. Six to eight hours of direct sunshine is considered full sun in Central Texas. There is an increased danger of faulty clove creation if the plants are allowed to grow for fewer hours. The bulb won't develop if the leaves don't absorb enough light; thus, the roots will starve.
