XL Axiata and PPTEL have launched the BaSIC subsea cable, connecting Batam, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi in Indonesia, bridging Malaysia and Indonesia. The cable system, operational from June 1, 2022, aims to enhance internet connectivity and offer alternative gateways to Kuching and Hong Kong. With initial capacity at 2Tbs, eventually reaching 48Tbs, this project aligns with XL Axiata's mission to improve global internet access and Indonesia's digital technology agenda.
