Pope Francis isn’t a socialist, and he’d probably be the first one to tell you that. And as a socialist, I can’t ignore that he sits at the top of an institution whose leadership structure is perhaps irreparably broken, and which has been complicit — or sometimes an active and cheerful participant — in some of the worst atrocities in world history.
