With Judge Xinis's initial deadline passed, SCOTUS could do what it did with Judge Ali's order there: Send it back to the district court to set a new timeline — and, with that, SCOTUS can set parameters for how it wishes to see the matter proceed. That is, in my view, the best-case scenario now.
