The United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) was established by the UN Security Council in 2010, succeeding the United Nations Mission in the DRC (MONUC), which was established by Security Council Resolution 1279 on 30 November 1999.
