Absences related to endometriosis or adenomyosis are now protected in Portugal, following an amendment to the country’s labour code. Effective since 26 April, the changes ensure female employees who suffer these incapacitating conditions during their menstrual period have the right to be absent from work for up to three consecutive days per month.
