Yesterday, I attended a fascinating, public conversation between Stuart Warner (Roosevelt) and my current colleague, Ronna Burger (Tulane) on Montesquieu’s (1721) Persian Letters. I have read passages in these Letters, but I have never had the dedication or opportunity to puzzle my way through it.
