A variety of Western countries have just recognised Palestine as a state. What is the practical impact of that? What's the difference between that and speaking in broad support of them. Or lightly criticising Israel's actions? Is it anything more than a political gesture? Not that gestures aren't meaningful ... just ... is this any different from other oratorical gestures?
