Turns out, everything we learnt at school was wrong. The map you coloured in during geography? Lies. Greenland is not the same size as Africa. Europe is not, in fact, six foot two with broad shoulders. On the Mercator projection, the one we all grew up with, Africa is shrunk down while Europe, Canada and the U.S. are stretched way out of proportion. In reality, Africa is fourteen times bigger than Greenland, but you’d never know it from the classroom wall.
