Typhoon Matmo struck the northern Philippines on the afternoon of 3 October, hitting Luzon with winds up to 130 kilometres per hour. Over 3,000 people were evacuated due to flood and landslide risks, schools were closed, ships were grounded, and several areas experienced severe inundation.
