what with my new sewing room(!!!!!), i have been sewing every night and finished all of the blocks for my x and + quilt on thursday. yay! so, yesterday morning i got up bright and early and laid out the squares. i'm glad i had the foresight to ask brian to help me move the little couch on friday night so i'd be ready to go. there's no room to lay out a big quilt in this house without moving furniture :)| yellowhouse72
hi! just checking in to say hello on this chilly chilly may day!! will. not. turn. on. heat!| yellowhouse72
this past friday brian and i both took the day off from work and went to brimfield, mass. to the BIG antiques fair. it was really fun despite the drizzly weather. i didn't get many photos in the rain, but i HAD to get one of this adorable little camper with its crocheted tire cover! how cute is that!?!?! if i had a spare tire on my camper i would certainly be working on a crocheted cover as we speak!| yellowhouse72
boy, it's been a while! i've been taking a lot of pictures and posting them over on instagram (@roscorichmond) and neglecting this space horribly...sorry!!!| yellowhouse72
my favorite flower in the garden (and i use that term loosely...tangled patch of plants is more like it at this point!) is blooming now. blood root is such a lovely little plant, and it's so nice that it blooms very early in the spring. every night the flower closes back up, and the leaf wraps around it for protection, such a charming habit!| yellowhouse72
and a very happy easter sunday to you all!!! xo| yellowhouse72
after seeing this, i really wanted to give this pattern a try!| yellowhouse72
just a few shots around the house.| yellowhouse72
i finally finished my japanese x and plus quilt! two big finishes in one week. if feels good to be able to move on to new projects, maybe a little smaller scale...| yellowhouse72
first of all, my camper is in another magazine! a couple of years ago a crew came and photographed our house and the camper for magazines that focused on "flea market style". i didn't know that they'd used the photos again for this magazine. thanks for the heads up cheryl and celeste!| yellowhouse72
i am BLOCKING!!! blocking! yes!!! so close to being done, and i've tried it on, and i think it's going to fit! yay!!! BUT, after the blocking process comes a dreadful and hideous step called "picking up 397 stitches" around the whole front and hood. holy cow that is going to suck! but, then i'll do the ribbing and be done! i'm racing against mother nature here. must be done before the nice weather arrives, so hopefully i'll have it done this week when the polar vortex makes it's return. tick,...| yellowhouse72
some lovely flowers for this first day of spring.| yellowhouse72
this weekend i made a trip home to visit my parents as my mother was going to be in the hospital for a few days(nothing serious thankfully!), and to spend some time with my father.| yellowhouse72
some pictures from our frost-heave-and-pothole-filled drive through maine and new hampshire this weekend.| yellowhouse72
so i have spent every day after work this week feverishly knitting away on my sweater, going great guns, lots of progress! i had my first sleeve 90% finished when i stopped and gave it a good look and saw the LADDERS! i kind of knew this was happening but thought it would be o.k...however, deep down i realized this flaw would plague me forever... | yellowhouse72

my new cupboard is ready for its' moment to shine! i have given it a good scrubbing and filled it up with fabrics and some of my favorite decorating and craft books. it really is the perfect cupboard. three shelves up top, two small drawers, one larger drawer and two doors on the bottom hide two more big shelves. seems like a lot of room, doesn't it, but i think i'll be filling it to capacity in no time! it does fit just perfectly there under the eave. i love it!| yellowhouse72
i walked into the yarn shop the other day, and my friend who works there was wearing this sweater which looked great, so i said "i'm going to knit that!"| yellowhouse72
we are getting positively hammered this winter with snow! as i write this it is coming down quite heavily, and i'm glad to be inside on the couch watching from the window. tomorrow morning there will be some shoveling to do though...the other day we got a bit of freezing rain which coated all of the tree branches and as the sun set, it illuminated the tips of those little branches like they were on fire! it was just gorgeous! my pictures really don't do it justice. | yellowhouse72
this is huge!!! i have discovered (with brian's help :) ) how to put my ipad photos onto my computer, so now i can share them here!!| yellowhouse72
a very happy valentine's day to all of my lovely blog readers!!!!!| yellowhouse72
yesterday was the most beautiful day so i went snowshoeing out at the hamilton house.| yellowhouse72

i found this amazing quilt at an antique shop this weekend. everything in the shop was on sale, so this started at $16.00(!!!), and i got it for $9.00 on sale. wow!| yellowhouse72
