A couple years ago he had an acute health event where he had to be hospitalized for weeks, so I went to visit home and help my mom. It was scary and sad. Hi and welcome to my website. I'm Rachel, a queer Korean American woman of average height in New York City. Like you, I am a denizen of the internet. There are lots of things you can say about yourself on an About page but I’ll tell you briefly that in 2016, I quit my job as a doctor (specifically, training to be a surgeon), which was the most important decision I have made about anything (so far) and has shaped much of my adult life.| kwon.nyc
Since my last update to this page in February, Spring has passed, summer has nearly passed. I have been commuting into the office 3 or 4 days a week (more than the 2 days required) which has been really helpful for my productivity and general well-being. I got Covid (again 😩 this was my third bout). I took two days off work, drank a lot of soup, and watched all five seasons of the show Insecure.| kwon.nyc
I use Hugo and DeployHQ to generate and deploy the site, respectively, and Github to host the source code (changelog here). Locally, I use Sublime Text to write and edit code, as well as Markdown files which constitute the content. (More gear and tech here.) This cool illustration of my visage was done by my friend Leigh Peterson, who also taught me how to bathe a cat. (Those were two separate favors.| kwon.nyc
