KCRHA is in the process of assessing the potential impacts of the executive order signed by President Trump on July 24, 2025. The order directs the U.S. Attorney General (AG), U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to take the numerous actions related to homelessness. During the winter severe weather season, our first cold weather activation typically occurs around Thanksgiving and our last one is usually toward the end of March. Once we've wrapped up the last activation for the season, we can start gathering, refining, and analyzing data and information for the winter weather activation summary.| KCRHA
Transitioning to using HeatRisk empowers us to respond earlier, when the people who are most likely to experience heat-related harm need support. This is KCRHA’s third summer using HeatRisk-based activation thresholds. We have aligned our activation tiers for extreme heat to better respond to the actual risk that any given heatwave poses to those living unsheltered in King County.| KCRHA
KCRHA has launched an ongoing Request for Information (RFI) to build a Land Bank of potential sites for temporary shelter for people experiencing homelessness. By creating a Land Bank and having land options available when funding arises for new sheltering sites, or an existing site needs to move at the end of a lease, we anticipate being able to move more efficiently to open new shelter and keep existing programs up and running.| KCRHA
