Earlier this month we traveled home and had a little birthday celebration for my GiGi and my wonderful sister-in-law. I offered to make t...| thatssewnina.blogspot.com
I nspiration struck for GiGi's 11 month onesie for my onesie project . She hasn't quite hit 11 months yet so I haven't done her pictures ...| thatssewnina.blogspot.com
Boy do I love decorating nurseries. Babies and all of their tiny adorable things. I love to search through pinterest to find all of the new theme ideas with 100 interpretations for each. After we finished transitioning our little girlies into their new girly room, it was time to get started on our preparations for little man. We knew our Bemidji babe needed a proper North Woods theme so I went the direction of woodland animals. | thatssewnina
One of the great loves…and great chores… of all of my babies' first years has been monthly pictures. It started with Curly Girl when I received a set of onesie stickers at her baby shower from a good photographer friend. Each month I took a picture with whatever outfit inspired me for the month. I also tried to capture a photo with the two of us--so proud of my first babe. With GiGi, I took it up a notch with a hand decorated onesie themed by the month. With little man, I got inspiration ...| thatssewnina
With little man well on his way, it was time to begin the feat of combining the girlies into one room. We were anxious for sure. Not only were we combining the bedrooms of our two very different little women, GiGi was just making her transition into a big girl bed. Can you believe we decided to just skip the toddler bed stage all together and throw her in a twin bed AND share a room? The decision was as bold as she is… and it worked! Being together for a year now, I can hardly imagine the t...| thatssewnina

We're going on vacation next week--without children. Yikes! I can't wait but of course leaving my children for a week means much pre-planning and worrying on my part. Grandmas are coming to the rescue to watch over the babes but to keep things easy on them I prepared a bunch of freezer meals in advance so it would be one less thing for them to worry about. | thatssewnina
As I shared in my last post, I've been a little off of blogging. It started with the holidays and just continued through a new job, a big move and some pretty major (awesome!) life changes. | thatssewnina
Well… it's been a while. Sorry about that. I know my two followers have been sitting on the edge of their seats. ;)| thatssewnina
So this week I was invited to a "Favorite Things" party with some old college friends. I had never heard of a Favorite Things party before so as the host was describing where she came up with the idea she talked about the fact that it was on her "30 things to do before I turn 30" list. Later in the evening she shared the rest of the list with us. I was inspired!| thatssewnina

Want your chicken soup to have true healing powers? There is nothing. Nothing. Better than homemade chicken stock. ...ok, so maybe that's a little dramatic. There are better things in life... But if you pride yourself as a decent cook, this is definitely a bucket list item. The great thing? It really doesn't even take that much effort. It mostly just takes a really big pot.| thatssewnina
So I work in higher education. One of the many benefits of my job (outside of working with amazing, optomistic "I'm going to change the world" college students) is that I get a tuition waiver so I get to take classes from talented faculty. for. free. | thatssewnina
The perfect roast chicken. There is nothing more classic. I've made more than a few in my days but I just keep coming back to this recipe from one of my Food Network faves Ina Garten. No one does classic like she does. | thatssewnina
One of my absolutely favorite fall traditions is making pumpkin curry. We discovered this three years ago when we first joined our CSA farm and received a half dozen pumpkins during the fall season. Outside of make pies and treats, we had no idea what to do with them! So we searched for some savory recipes and discovered the idea of pumpkin curry. We've played around with recipes and settled on these ingredients. | thatssewnina
It was just about a year ago that my maternity leave with GiGi was coming to a close and I decided to take a few delicious days to myself as GiGi started daycare and I prepared to return to work. In those three days, I bought a new sewing machine to replace the $100 Walmart Singer machine that finally gave in and I determined that I would start a blog to help give me the motivation to use it.| thatssewnina
Recently I was invited to a potluck cook out at my church so I used it as an excuse to come up with something pretty to make. We had collected just a ton of overripe bananas in our freezer so I thought it might be time to use some up. Most of my banana recipes are breakfast oriented so I thought I'd try my hand at some cupcakes. Immediately the idea of "Elvis" cupcakes came to mind combining banana cake with peanut butter frosting. | thatssewnina
We’re a busy family. Two kiddos under three and two working parents makes life challenging to manage day-to-day. My husband and I are neat and tidy folks with type-A personalities so we both get a little edgy when the chores pile up.| thatssewnina
I just adore my mother-in-law. She is so very thoughtful and kind. She and my father-in-law would give the shirts of their backs to help anyone who needed it. With all that sweetness and generosity, she still has some sass and can tell you what's what. She's the oldest of seven children and it shows. My father-in-law is 100% Icelandic so our girls call my in-laws "Amma" and "Afi" (Icelandic for grandmother and grandfather), special names for special people.| thatssewnina
Well, here it is! My last monthly onesie for my GiGi. I'm not sure what symbol I would have done for August (maybe a popsicle or something beachy?) so I was glad to have her birthday fall this month so that I could celebrate with a fun cupcake. | thatssewnina
Would you believe if I told you that Fargo is a hip town? Surely, we are. | thatssewnina
My GiGi turned one! Man, it's been a fast year. I can't believe it.| thatssewnina
Welcome back! I've taken a little blogging vacation| thatssewnina
We had a wonderful summer vacation in Walker, MN. Walker is one of those adorable lakeside tourist towns in northern Minnesota. Lots of cute shops, locally owned restaurants, and antique stores!| thatssewnina
So we've been little vacationistas the last couple of weeks so while I've been up to lots of projects I just haven't quite made the time to blog about it. Back to a regular schedule!| thatssewnina
