2024 was a year of not caring about stats. Although I looked at the numbers often and made notes, I didn't delve into them or the patterns that I noticed. In 2023, I realized that looking at numbers a lot did not help my motivation to blog and took steps away from it.| the wordy habitat

2022 was probably the most happening year of my life. Considering everything that happened in real life, it is surprising that I managed to keep up my hobbies as well as I did. Sure, they fell to the wayside a few times but I didn't stop any of them. I consider that a win.| the wordy habitat
The Wordy Habitat went through a glow up. I am so excited to FINALLY show y'all this site. If you're new to The Wordy Habitat, hi! Welcome! I'm Sumedha, the mayor* of this wordy place, giving a home to all things books, blogging, and lifestyle.| the wordy habitat
There are so many ways to format book reviews and it can be hard to pick one. Especially when you're in a slump or don't know how to begin.| the wordy habitat
Are book reviews enough for book blogs? What do people like to see? What posts work better in the long run? What content helps form more relationships?| the wordy habitat
While sticking to goals throughout the year is hard, making them helps. I'm sharing my goals here to keep myself accountable for them. I'll also share my strategy for the goals at the end.| the wordy habitat
Remember when my September was filled with interesting reads? Well, October carried on that good reading streak. I read 10 books—4 of which were rereads—and I thoroughly enjoyed most of them. The ones I didn't enjoy were still interesting in a way. I'm excited to tell you my thoughts on the books I read!| the wordy habitat
My reading in March was a mixed bag. I'm really satisfied with it. I finished reading 12 books—11 ebooks and 1 paperback, and I DNFed 9 books. I used to never DNF books but I started recently as it helps to avoid reading slumps and to read more books, and I'm now DNFing almost everything that I'm not enjoying. It's the only reason I read 12 books this month. I wouldn't have if I stayed with books I didn't like.| the wordy habitat
April felt like a long month, and I'm not sure I remember much about the books I read. I procrastinated for almost a week before writing this post because of that. But then, if I don't write down what I remember now, I will forget it later. So here I finally am, with mini-reviews on all my April reads. I read 14 books in April. I am really happy with the fact that I read 3 paperbacks and 3 audiobooks. My reading wasn't 90% ebooks for once.| the wordy habitat

2023 was a good year. It wasn't the most memorable or happening (like 2022) but it was a comfortable year. I had great times with the people I love, worked on my passions, improved my health, and have many new fond memories. Grab a drink or a snack and settle down as I take you through my 2023.| the wordy habitat
The Mahabharata has always been a story about men. The five Pandava brothers are known to every Indian like we know the names of our family members. The Palace of Illusions made it a whole new story by narrating from Panchaali's point of view.| the wordy habitat
Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb was one of my best books of 2021. Here's my glowing review along with some great quotes from the book.| the wordy habitat

Of course, I track my reading. How else would I brag about it with data to back me up? 🤪 Tracking reading seems simple until you start doing it and get a whiff of the ways others do it in the online bookish community. As someone who's been reading for 10+ years and is an organisation and data patterns nerd, it's no surprise that I'm a bit obsessed with tracking my reading. The other benefits that come along with it help too.| the wordy habitat
Although I've had other books by Cal Newport on my TBR, I've never given Deep Work a second glance. The title is self-explanatory and I thought that it wouldn't be too useful for me considering I can do deep work. However, recently when someone mentioned it, I decided to give it a shot. After all, books that seem to be innocuous can turn out to be what we need.| the wordy habitat
The Poppy War is a book that you should take your time reading. It’s not a fast-paced book with many interesting twists, but it’s a damn impressive book about war and an underdog character who rises.| the wordy habitat
Looking back on everything that I've learnt over 6 years of blogging, some blogging lessons stand out. They are the backbone of my blogging mindset. I'm going to talk about them today, and I hope it helps you as well.| the wordy habitat
American Betiya is a story of growth through experiences. Rani has a very meaningful time in her life in this book which teaches her many things and causes her to grow in ways that can't be measured.| the wordy habitat
A Love So Beautiful is one of the most charming Kdramas that I've seen. I binged it in ONE day and have zero regrets.| the wordy habitat
If there is one book that has interesting reviews online, it is This is How You Lose the Time War. You will see many quotes in this post and also a spoiler-filled section later because I HAVE to share what I felt when reading the book.| the wordy habitat

Although My ID is Gangnam Beauty isn't one of my favourite Kdramas, I have watched it multiple times. There is something about the drama that makes me come back. It doesn't have an outrageous plot, a big plot twist, or unique characters—it is set in a university and is about regular lives. But it is also much more than that. In quiet ways, it is profound. Every time I watch it, I find something new to appreciate. Now that I've watched it several times, I think I finally have enough to write...| the wordy habitat
When I'm sick, sad, frustrated, or tired and want an emotional hug, I always pick up my "comfort books." Whether I vent about it to a friend or not, my mood isn't fixed until I read a good comforting book. Sometimes, I read the entire book. Sometimes, I read a part of it. Sometimes, I skim all of it. Sometimes, I read just a chapter or two. I may read more than one book. I do whatever I feel like I need and it always makes me feel better. I'm still figuring out why these books provide me with...| the wordy habitat
I procrastinated so hard to write "a year without social media" that another year has passed 🤪 Quitting social media isn't a unique experience or even uncommon at this point. Several posts and videos document the experience, and I don't know if any of what I say will be new. However, my account isn't documented yet and hence it is different enough. Nothing is unique and everything is unique, after all. After a long time of collecting random thoughts in my notes app, I'm finally here to tal...| the wordy habitat

It’s official. I have found my new #1 Kdrama. Kill Me Heal Me has replaced W: Two Worlds as my top Kdrama.| the wordy habitat
Extraordinary You is THE Kdrama to watch if you’re looking for something to binge in 2 days. Or even 1, if you have 16 hours to spare. The actors of this drama are not popular and I assume that is why it hasn’t gotten as much traction as it deserves, so y’all should really go watch it ASAP because it’s beautiful. Cute? Check. Crazy story? Check. Awesome cast? Check. Intriguing? BIG CHECK.| the wordy habitat
As I do the 12-week course (guided by the book), I'm trying out many new things while also balancing other things in life. I've seen a lot of these "how was it?" posts and videos on The Artist's Way so I thought I'd write them too! I'm going to share how I'm doing it, my experience with each aspect, and changes over time.| the wordy habitat
My love for reading books came from my mom. Her reading habit slowed down to a stop when she became an adult but my reading has been consistent. I may not read as much as I read in school but I still read way more than the average person. In 2022, I read 171 books. All of these books have to come from somewhere. I thought it would be interesting to delve into where I get my books and how I choose what to get.| the wordy habitat
It has been TWO YEARS since thewordyhabitat dot com was born (I was on .wordpress.com for a couple of years and then on .in for a year) but it lowkey feels like forever. I've read all of Abby Jimenez's books and while I didn't like all of them, I enjoy them at least a bit. I once consecutively read a bunch of books from her backlog, and it was fun. I discovered Yours Truly which became one of my comfort reads. Hence, when Just For The Summer was released, I had high hopes for it. And it did not disappoint.| the wordy habitat
The best part of having a self-hosted blog is the ability to use plugins. Sure, having a custom theme matters highly but good plugins make maintaining a blog so easy. You can do most of these things yourself but it's much easier to use a plugin and save your time.| the wordy habitat
The first week of May 2025 was so good and so bad that I have to talk about it. I want to take the time and recount all of it, to clearly see my mistakes and document the good memories.| the wordy habitat
Although I've seen a few such videos years ago, it wasn't my thing. It was never my thing. But after hearing about it recently, it seemed interesting. It's not anywhere close to my regular niches but why not, right? The whole point of having a hobby is to have fun. So, grab a drink and settle down, let me ramble about what's in my work bag and ramble about my life with it 🎒| the wordy habitat
This is a super chill post. I'm just going to take you with me through the last 10 years of my reading journey and share my thoughts.| the wordy habitat
My blogging journey has been full of ups and downs. It's hard to summarize everything in one post but I want to try because blogging has become one of the biggest parts of me and I can't imagine life without a space of my own on the internet.| the wordy habitat
While formatting does not always take readability into account, they go hand-in-hand. It can make your blog posts more readable or can turn readers away from your blog.| the wordy habitat
My personal knowledge management system for work is separate from my system for life due to different requirements. In this post, I'm sharing my requirements, the PKM tools I use at work, and how I use them.| the wordy habitat
I don't often read middle grade books but when I do, I'm always struck by how thoughtful they are. Take It From The Top was a random pick to switch genres and vibes from my previous reads. I wanted something far away from detailed fantasies. This was exactly what I wanted and so much more.| the wordy habitat
Rain or Shine—AKA Just Between Lovers—is a raw and haunting portrayal of grief and survivor's guilt. IT is a poignant and comforting drama that will make you sad and also give you hope.| the wordy habitat
Melo Movie is supposed to be a fun yet emotional story about people chasing their ambitions, falling in love, reunion romances, and facing hard truths. However, none of it was done well.| the wordy habitat

And here's how it went.| the wordy habitat
March was a month of the new life. It's officially the beginning of summer and while I'm not looking forward to the unrelenting heat, I wouldn't mind more of such days. March was a month of living in balance and trying out new routines.| the wordy habitat
Sometimes, life is so overwhelming that you have to take time to record what happened afterwards and work through your thoughts and feelings about them. Welcome to Margins of the Week! Instead of a diary-style blog, this is an informal post written after the events with "annotations" emulating the concept of taking notes in the margins which are messy and interleave with the main content. Tangential thoughts may or may not overtake the narration of the actual events, but that's how our minds ...| the wordy habitat

Or as I like to call it: here's what I decided to do on a whim! (x2) It's been a long time since I wrote an impromptu post, let alone an announcement post. I think the last time was when I went self-hosted which was a whole four years ago. It feels a bit weird to write out of my head without having notes or a proper idea of what I want this post to be but I'm happy to write impromptu. I have no idea if this is going to be a short or a long post. Knowing myself, it'll end up being long. I'm ju...| the wordy habitat

2024 has been a year full of memories and favourites. Although it didn't have big changes or a lot of anything, it was a year of making every day good. Instead of going after ambitious goals, I focused on making each day filled with things I love and making small accomplishments. Since I focused so much on everyday life, I loved a lot of small things.| the wordy habitat
I read Drag Me Up a couple of months back and have been procrastinating writing a review for it. It's always the best books that are harder to review. And this is definitely one of the best romance books that I've read.| the wordy habitat
I love any retelling of Hades and Persephone's story. It is the only one about the top gods that isn't a horrifying story. At least, as far as I know. Knowing how all the Greek myths are, maybe there's something twisted in their story too that isn't well-known.| the wordy habitat
I picked up Tis the Season for Revenge on a whim and it turned out to be so damn good that it gave me hope to read more romance books.| the wordy habitat
I want to say that November was less busy and stressful than October, but I can't. It was a tad better but my days flew by in a frenzy and the month felt like two months. Honestly, I need to flip through my calendar and Snapchat memories to see what actually happened in November that I can talk about.| the wordy habitat
I came across Passenger Princess on Kindle Unlimited while borrowing another book and decided to give it a chance. I did not expect it to be as good as it was. It wasn't great but it was interesting and entertaining. It was exactly the light-hearted read that I wanted.| the wordy habitat
I'm a Hanya Yanagihara fan because of A Little Life. When I heard that the author is releasing a new book, I was excited. Unfortunately, To Paradise did not deliver.| the wordy habitat
Annotate books to fully experience each book and make it your own. Writing comments, including drawings or illustrations, and conversing with the text makes the experience of reading much more fun.| the wordy habitat
