Oops, it’s been a year since I last posted one of these. We are skipping ahead in the book, leap-frogging past The Zealot and The Occult and their respective magic schedules, as well as travel and exploration procedures, to talk about the final (and most extensive) chapter in the book: Downtime. Check out the rules at errantrpg.carrd.co to follow along!| Permanent Cranial Damage
I am overdue to reply to Josh for an answer to this question by almost a fortnight.| Permanent Cranial Damage

Gold became the standard coin of trade first primarily for its metallurgic qualities, but it remained so because of its supra-natural qualities. Gold, you see, must constantly remain in circulation; the movement is essential to counteract the malign will of the gold itself.| Permanent Cranial Damage
First of all, I think the prefix "mega" is unnecessary and has done harm to the artform of what I'll call instead a tentpole dungeon. It conjures images of 600 page tomes with long room keys that are off-putting to read and play. What we call megadungeons used to just simply be referred to as "dungeons", a setting for a campaign which, due to its ever-changing and expanding nature, holds capacity for infinite play. | Permanent Cranial Damage
For the duration of Errant's Kickstarter I will be doing a series of posts where I go through Errant, more or less in order, diving into the design of the game and its inspirations. To follow along, I suggest reading the relevant section being discussed at errantrpg.carrd.co. Also, we have a Discord server now.| Permanent Cranial Damage

Random encounters are good, but rolling them by the book sucks.| Permanent Cranial Damage
As is in Errant, armour works like so.| Permanent Cranial Damage
Inspired by Nick's POSER Manifesto and also this dumb tweet. Thanks Nick, for teaching me the importance of being shit.| Permanent Cranial Damage
This is a series of loose meditations around the purpose and nature of "rules" in D&D-like RPGs. What I say here could probably be extrapolated out to things like PbTA but that's not my focus here. These tweets by Ben Milton were the catalyst for these thoughts.| Permanent Cranial Damage
Well, it finally happened.| Permanent Cranial Damage
these are cerebral and inchoate thoughts mostly related to my thesis that are going here because they have theoretical implications about how and why we run games the way we do, and the implications thereof. It is unlikely to be of interest to any other than me and is only going here as a record of notes.| Permanent Cranial Damage
I'm quite a fan of character builds, as are many of my players. The crunch and system bloat that comes with character builds in 3.X, 4e, or 5e, though, is something I, like many in the OSR disdain.| Permanent Cranial Damage
Thinking about +Joseph Manola's post on time and distance, I'm going to give my PCs 1-3 months downtime between every adventure. A few loose rules for downtime actions.| Permanent Cranial Damage
