Our 2025 read-aloud journey continues! I found this one thanks to a list along the lines of, “If you liked The Hobbit…” We read it in one afternoon (it’s very short), and both kids give it two thumbs up. The titular dragon has a lovely home under a pool in a river belonging to Lord of Tundergarth, a home found for him by his thoughtful mother. He is a shy, quiet dragon who eats only one bullock every 2 or 3 weeks, from the cattle […]| Cannonball Read 17
Happy Sapphic September! I have somehow not read any of Alison Cochrun’s previous books, and I enjoyed Every Step She Takes so much, I’m going to need to read her backlist. Every Step She Takes is a journey of discovery story. Sadie impulsively announces she’ll take her sister’s place on a Camino de Santiago tour in Portugal. She has no idea what she’s getting herself into. She doesn’t know that the tour group is queer focused, she doesn’t know that the Camino is historically a ...| Cannonball Read 17
When I saw Covenant advertised I was not sure if I wanted to read it. One, it was a graphic novel and I’ll read almost anything when it comes to those. But two, it was a fantasy and I’m so-so when it comes to that. Three, it was about religion and I am not usually in the mood for that (unless I am). And four, it was LGBTQ, and for the longest time I was not in the mood for a LGBTQ and religion book. […]| Cannonball Read 17
While not a perfect read, Kimiko Does Cancer: A Graphic Memoir has several good reflections of what is happening to the author and has strong relatability. You might not have had cancer (or a serious illness) but you can relate to her struggles and journey. I found myself realizing I have thought/felt some of the things she talks about with my own health issues, as much of what she says and does is universal. It really isn’t about cancer, that is just the starting point […]| Cannonball Read 17
Please note that I received this book from NetGalley. This did not affect my rating or review. This is the 61st Eve Dallas/In Death book and I am not going to do a rundown really. This gets 4 stars since even though it gets a little paint by numbers here and there, it was still solid. I liked thi| Cannonball Read 17
I don't know how they did it, but these Animorphs books just keep getting crazier. I'm almost sad I skipped a few "skippable" titles, cuz what crazy hijinks am I missing?! It's the romances that feature the difficult people who feel unlovable that get to me every time. Add in some hurt-comfort and I am trash for your book. Kate Canterbary's The Worst Guy gives us two people who feel like they are too difficult to love finding out that they love the most difficult part| Cannonball Read 17
You Weren't Meant to be Human fulfills the "black" square on CBR17 Bingo I had Andrew Joseph White on my radar from his debut, but it wasn't until Compound Fracture that I finally read one of his books. Even though most of his books haven't exactly been for me, I have a special spot in my heart f| Cannonball Read 17
