Press Release The Briar Project released version 1.1 of its Android app today. This release adds new features following the app’s first public release in May. Thanks to support from the Open Technology Fund, the new release has a dark theme designed by Ura Design. Users can switch between the light and dark themes, or use an automatic mode that activates the dark theme at night. Press release The Briar Project released a new Android app called Briar Mailbox today. Briar Mailbox is a helper app for Briar messenger that lets you receive encrypted messages from your contacts while Briar is offline. Next time Briar comes online it will automatically fetch the messages from your Mailbox. Likewise, you can send encrypted messages to contacts who are offline, and the messages will be delivered automatically when your contacts come online.| briarproject.org
Briar Desktop 0.4.0-beta for Linux and Windows including the first new feature: forums We are very happy to announce that we have accomplished two big goals! Briar Desktop got another round of funding So far, Briar is only available as an Android app, which is preventing some organizations that work in repressive environments from using it as a secure communications tool and considering it as a more secure alternative to email. The desktop team is excited to announce the next update to the Briar desktop client. The new version 0.5.0-beta brings support for private groups that complement private messaging and forums. Private groups were previously only available on Android devices. Another update is the ability to link a Briar Mailbox to your desktop client. In February of this year, security researchers at ETH Zürich notified us that they had found three security issues in the Briar app. Two of these issues were fixed in version 1.4.22 of Briar, which was released in February. The third issue was fixed in version 1.5.3, which is being released today. All users are encouraged to upgrade to version 1.5.3 of the app as soon as possible. We have not received any reports of these bugs being exploited in the wild, and the third issue is not exploitable.| briarproject.org
