In 2024, The Poetry Society has been collaborating with the University of Exeter and the South West Peatland Partnership on the Bog Talk project, funded by Natural England, to encourage education and creative engagement with peatland landscapes. In November, a group of creatives, peat restorers, scientists and archeologists came together for a day’s discussion about bogs in Exeter, followed by a poetry reading. The Poetry Society has been teaming up with researchers at the University of Exeter to find ways of engaging communities with bogs and peatlands through the ‘Bog Talk’ project. Bog Talk, funded by Natural England, is part of Exeter University’s RENEW partnership programme, which is working to encourage biodiversity in the UK.
