Early on, I recall reading a lot of Robert Lowell’s poems, including his poem “For the Union Dead.” More recently, in addition to a large array of many other poets’ works, I’ve been paying attention to the work of Eastern European poets, including Miklos Radnoti, Milosz, and Adam Zagajewski.
