I was lucky enough to spend some time with some of my FAVORITE Veterans this weekend... 205 of them to be exact!!!and we were able to award 10 Quilts to some amazing Folks!!This was a super fun bunch!! the Two that are sitting - One is a Brigadier General, and one was in the Korean war. Saturday Night We were privileged to attend the Northern Colorado Veterans resource Center *Battle Buddies* Gala. It was a great event! I was invited to come to present 3 Quilts of Valor. It was quite the night. We learned all about the resource center. In the course of presenting QOV’s I run into a lot of Veterans who have obstacles that make getting services more difficult. This year in my guild ( Pieceable Friends) I hosted a Block Robin - Sort of a Round robin, but you chose a block you wanted Quilters to make, and we sent the boxes around. I got the second of the Three Disappearing 4 patch Quilts quilted up!! and off to the pile for the binders!!My dogs were eating dinner, so they couldn't be bothered to pose... but the quilt is just as good - I promise!!The quilting is a meandering star - I really like it, and its fun and fast!! Which is September 20th!!And our QOV Sew day... so!! Each year for that past couple of years we have done some kind of Jelly Roll Quilt. Its fun, its a race, and we really don't care if we finish in a day.... at some time - they all get finished!!This Year - we are doing what I am Calling the Jelly Roll Plus quilt - because! We had a horse event up in the mountains of Estes Park - It was a two day event, so!! we decided to try something new for us. I pulled the horses and the girls - K pulled the camper and off we went.You start at 5000 feet and go up to 8000 + feet - so its quite a climb with two horses in the back, and all the winding roads - I couldn't go faster than 40mph, and truthfully, didn't want to.
