Yesterday, I introduced the concept of monster Motivations as a way to help understand how to use that monster when designing encounters, or what they might be working toward when encountered as wandering monsters. But motivation only explains what the monster wants. Disposition, on the other hand, is a way to help understand the general attitude of the monster, and how they interact with others. This again is because alignment alone (even dual axis alignment) doesn't really help a DM in know...| Save Vs. Dragon
On the whole, I find that alignment alone (even dual axis alignment) doesn't really help a DM in knowing how to play a monster during encounters. To that end, as part of the Expanded Creature Cache stat block, I'm playing around with the ideas of "Motivation" and "Disposition." Then, in combination with the classic Monster Manual stats (like Intelligence), you start to get a better idea of how to play the monster.| Save Vs. Dragon

Those who've played in my games know that, having been influenced just a bit* by Steve Marsh, languages are a big part of my games—especially in campaigns. | Save Vs. Dragon

Bring additional dimensions to your classic fantasy gaming! This 64-page book presents players and DMs alike with information to expand the playability and possibilities in their campaigns. It's a cornucopia of information on all aspects of the game including characters, spellcasting, adventures, encounters, monsters and dungeon mastering. This is truly an indispensable resource for the the classic edition Dungeon Master (BX, OSE, LL).| Save Vs. Dragon
So just about the time we finished editing this earlier this year, I decided I wanted to just fold this into a much larger "B/X DMG" with all kinds of additional stuff (e.g., all the thieves' info from In Alley & Shadow, plus I'm working on information about creating pantheons, clerics establishing orders, how to structure settlements and encounters, etc.—you know, the kind of stuff that is the 1e DMG, just for BX). But that's a meaty bite to chew, especially with the demands of work, life,...| Save Vs. Dragon

Of the many things I like to do, is taking a number of separate PD images in the same style that might individually not be fantasy RPG appropriate, and then combine and retouch them to make them so. This is one I did this morning.| Save Vs. Dragon

I've been putting some thoughts/notes together lately about creating a pantheon of gods for your campaign. Based on the "Stock Gods" from the TV Tropes website, I've put together a Pantheon Worksheet listing out the major "stock" gods for a generic pantheon, with some extra spaces at the bottom for additional and/or petty gods that might be worth noting. | Save Vs.
