Gotsangpa is considered the founder of a special branch of the Drukpa Kagyu school known as the Upper Drukpa. He traveled widely in western Tibet and present-day Himachal Pradesh, India, and is particularly well known today in Ladakh and Lahaul.| The Treasury of Lives
Vairocanavajra, an Orissan by birth, was active in Tibet in the middle decades of the twelfth century. He learned Tibetan quite well, and had a number of students of various Kagyu lineages including the First Karmapa Dusum Khyenpa and Zhang Yudrakpa.
