any option to have it longer with more octaves? or perhaps have the octaves modular in that they can plug into each? have been looking for something like this (compact and can do more octaves than my standard 49 key keyboards in the limited space of my bedroom studio)| lines - Latest posts

Been playing around this and it’s fun, super cool, but I haven’t figured out a way to get more than 2 outputs at a time with an ES-9 through AUM. Any tips from people? I think it’s something to do with the multi-bus audio unit stuff but haven’t managed to crack it. Edit: multi-bus seems to be the way, but I can only get the first channel of each stereo “pair” working, even when running it as a mono signal, i.e. outputs 9, 11, 13, 15 work fine, but 10, 12, 14 and 16 don’t get any...| lines - Latest posts

just thought you all should be aware of what i get in the monome support inbox these days: I wanted to reboot complete my Norns, so I asked chatgpt to give me a code to reboot it, and it gave me this: os.execute("sudo rm -rf /home/we/dust && sudo rm -rf /home/we/norns/system/lib && sudo reboot") ps. this isn’t a policy position, just a data point pps. to decode this for people not deeply familiar with norns, this erases all user data, then tries to erase a nonexistent folder, then reboot, w...| lines - Latest posts
List of changes from OS 1.0.1 to 1.0.2 Improvements Reduced audio/MIDI latency. Bug fixes DIN MIDI input and output had timing problems (jitter). There could be timing issues when using DIN MIDI for auto-sampling. PERFORM mode could, under some circumstances, unexpectedly activate after boot. Track selection sometimes unintentionally interacted with GRID RECORDING mode. File names could incorrectly exceed the 256-character limit.| lines - Latest posts
Over the past weeks, I had the chance to overhear some 2-way radio chatter. Some of it was “enhanced” (in a delightful way, to my ears) by what I have now been advised was likely a result of an R/T phenomenon called Single Sideband. My best effort to describe the imparted end-result effect would be to compare it to something along the lines of a tight comb filter sound, with an added “dopplerized”-type deal going on. It’s a quality one can encounter when tuning across the shortwave ...| lines - Latest posts
Nice! I actually have a 737 as well and it does work well but I’m trying to find something that’s a little smaller and lighter if possible to fit this case i’m using. The 737 is juuust too big to fit it| lines - Latest posts

I recorded a thunder storm at home about 10 years ago. It’s a recording I’ve used in different ways a lot over the years so I thought I’d come back to it for this. I chose a short section which has thunder at the beginning and again at the end. This frames a few minutes of heavy rain which I pitched down and mixed in alongside the original recording, plus a few drones from my Koma Chromaplane.| lines
New Video from my side project Suzies Ashes. We are releasing an EP over the next months and this is the second release. The track is called Lady Sin, sort of darkwave vibes and the feeling of being lost. I also had the pleasure of creating the video which is now up on the tube. Constraints can be useful. Many music makers say it. What are the constraints you face … time? space? ability? equipment? How might they affect what one does and the sound produced? And, you love the phrase ‘to make do’. You feel there’s a lot in that idea, passed down through the generations. Sure, it isn’t a very fashionable idea. But then, things are changing so quickly. * You reflect that you make do with very little time. However, another big constraint is that you don’t have...| lines - Latest posts

almost any old computer will work! buy as little as possible, maybe try salvaging first ubuntu (and many others) are pretty-much “just works” these last few years if you’re looking for a new cyberdeck made by a small group of cool folks, see mnt (for myself, i run a thinkpad x1 carbon with manjaro/gnome) ps. framework recently made news by supporting some far right blah blah (which is to say, open source (etc) is also frequently a hellscape, don’t be too optimistic)| lines
This is technically a “friends of arc/grid” question but does anyone know who makes this super-duper slim angled USB-C cable that @sonoCircuit used in his (wonderful) mlre video? Hopefully, it’s something that can be bought separately. Thanks!| lines - Latest posts

FWIW I have been using mine for live looping (using the tape machine) externally clocked to midi clock and it has been stable. I have not used a lot of external midi cc control so I cannot speak on that. I’ve said it before on this thread, but the UI is one of the best IMO and just flows for me when using it.| lines - Latest posts

Just wow. Need to change my plans. I had a Stages years ago, but wanted something more direct. Have mostly avoided digital modules since then. But I do love oscillators, and have long wanted someone to make an oscillator bank like the Antiphon, only better. This might be it!| lines
ufo ultra-low frequency oscillator powered by the International Space Station This is a script for the Monome Norns that uses the International Space Station (ISS) as a low-frequency oscillator, with a period of about 90 minutes. It grabs data from the Where The ISS At? API, and maps the location of the ISS over the Earth to sound. The ISS orbits Earth every 90 minutes or so, and so if you track its latitude and longitude then you’ll get a sine wave for the former, and a ramp wave for the l...| lines

Loud Numbers A script for turning data (csv files) into sound and music Loud Numbers is a data sonification script for Norns. It turns .csv files into melodies and control voltages. You can select the root note and scale with encoders 2 and 3. Encoder 1 selects the bpm. Key 2 toggles play/pause, and key 3 toggles whether the melody should loop when you reach the end of the dataset or not. The script comes with a default set of data - temperature.csv, which contains global tempe...| lines
